Soccer, Soccer and more soccer

This weekend Emma participated in a soccer tournament with her club soccer team. The weather was beautiful and they played amazingly well. They passed the ball to one another incredibly..... They won 2 out of their 4 games but they were all so happy.

Summer Plans.....

On the days that I took the kids out to lunch I had them list off the things they wanted to do over the summer so we decided to make board that listed their ideas and hopefully we can complete everything. I am really looking forward to the lazy days of summer when the kids smell like suntan lotion and have that summer glow.

Completed!

Henry has completed this mega Lego project all on his own. It took about 6 weeks but it is done. He is so proud of his accomplishment and quite honestly so am I. These kits are very tricky to put together. He stuck it out even when he was so frustrated that it brought him to tears. He told me today that he was going to play with it...I nearly went into cardiac arrest. Play with it....uh....I don't think so! What if it drops or it falls apart..I will have an inconsolable little boy. So for right now, "the ship" is sitting on his dresser.

Great job Henry!!!

A great day in Cohasset with the Mahoney's

We had an amazing day down in Cohasset with the Mahoney's. The kids had a great time playing together and the adults had a blast catching up with one another. Thanks Shell for a great lunch!!!

Emma and Henry had a blast climbing the rock wall and then repelling down. Thanks Joe for being their spotter!

We can't forget about Penny.

A party for Francesca!!!

We attended a party for Francesca ( a classmate and friend of Emma's.) this weekend. She has just completed 16 months of chemotherapy and radiation for brain cancer. She is an amazing little girl with tons of courage and determination. It was wonderful party and fun was had by all.

It feels like a summer but unfortunately there is school tomorrow....

The pool is open and we had a blast....the pictures speak for themselves!!! I am looking forward to a carefree summer full of wrinkled fingers and toes from too much swimming, hands that are sticky from eating too much watermelon, dirty faces from stuffing in smores and most of all just laughter!!!

Lunch Date -Part 2

Today, was Emma's turn and I managed to surprise her as well. We also held hands as we left her school both of us giggling like we had just pulled off the biggest coup. We had a wonderful time at lunch discussing the same things that I had discussed with Henry. They both seem like that had a wonderful year but are really looking forward to the summer and just being "lazy." I asked both of them if they wanted me to sign them up for any camps and both said "no."

After lunch, I told Emma that she could get ice cream. When we got in the car she leaned up from the backseat and kissed me on the cheek and said- "thank you mom." I could have cried right there!!! Kids love having special one-on-one time with their parents and it is just as amazing for us. It's hard to imagine that just a few years ago they were such babies and now they are acting more and more mature. I love listening to them.

On a side note- Emma actually thanked me for taking her home from a sleep over party (we don't allow our kids to spend the night). She said that she was happy that she had gotten a good night's sleep. Boy, I never expected to hear that statement from her. We also talked about how we are both crazy about our beds. Here are some things that we are crazy about- the bed MUST be made in order to get into it, no one else can be on our sheets, no one can put their heads on our pillows, basically- no touching our BEDS!!!

So much fun to have lunch with a beautiful girl who is growing up so quickly. I love you Emma!!!

Lunch Date - Part 1

I was lucky enough to have a lunch date with this handsome guy yesterday. I went to his school and surprised him......he was grinning from ear to ear. We held hands all the way to the car and then headed off to Bill's Pizza. It was so lovely having lunch with just one child and my focus could just be on him. We talked about what he loved about his 1st grade year, what he wants to do this summer, and we giggled. I feel so blessed to have this little guy in my life. He is a joy to be around and he just fills my heart. I realized that I need to do these "special" things more often. Time is fleeting and I just want to soak up every second with Emma and Henry.

Today, I am doing the same for Emma. She just called me from school to let me know that I forgot to pack her lunch (ha ha).....I said that I would bring it to her later. I hope that she is as surprised as Henry.

End of the year activities.....

Emma had her end of the year field trip to The Freedom Trail. John was able to chaperone this event with her even though she was terrified that he might embarrass her. The weather was horrible so they had a long drive into Boston. All of the kids finger knitted as they drove in to the Old State house. Emma loved the tour and all of the fun facts that she learned about the history of Boston while John had a blast being with all of the kids and talking to Mrs. Oldach.

This is Henry's new little friend in the yard. He pokes his head out every time Henry stops by for a visit!

Henry was able to have pajama day in his class. He loved every minute of it!!!

I love all of the craziness at the end of the school year. There are so many things for the kids and I know that Summer is right around the corner!!!

10 things that me make me happy

It's always better to focus on the happy things in life when you are having a blah rainy day. Here are 10 things that always put a smile on my face (no particular order):

1. cup of coffee in the morning made with my frother
2. a great book
3. having a night out with John
4. seeing Emma and Henry happy
5. spending time with my family
6. finding a great new product
7. watching Emma and Henry play sports
8. climbing into clean sheets
9. watching Glee and then downloading my favorite songs
10. lazy summer days
11. ice cream and oreos (had to include this one)

I could list a ton more but this is what comes to my mind today.

Baseball, Bathing Beauty and a birthday party = weekend fun

Henry is always the first to jump into the freezing cold pool before we truly open it for the season. As you can see he is very excited for the first jump. He came to the surface after the jump and said it is "coooold."

Emma went to a sleepover party this weekend and she did a half sleep over.

Henry got to be the catcher for his team on Saturday which he loved!!! When John saw him he remembered when he used to play catcher and can't believe that he now has a son who is playing that position as well. Time goes by so fast.

The is Emma's diorama on the bald eagle. She did a great job all on her own!
