115th Boston Marathon

Today was the 115th running of the Boston Marathon! This day is especially close to our hearts because it starts in our town and because we know so many people running this incredible race.

We always manage to get a seat right up close to see all of the amazing runners.

Pre- marathon excitement! (a little chilly for us but a perfect weather day for the 26,000 runners)

The Elite Women

Davilla came in 2nd place. Both the women and the men broke world records by minutes!!!

Team Hoyt (always makes me fill up) A father pushing his disabled son- they have completed so many marathons together!

Elite Men ( Mutai- came in 1st)

Ryan Hall- came in third! Sarah- this one is for you!!!

Now the funny ones!!

Doug- a friend of John's.

Courtney- We sat next to her mom Denise (a very proud mom and just a wonderful lady) See you next year Denise!

Hodge Podge

Spring has Sprung! This gorgeous toad was on our driveway....I wonder where he was hiding all winter under many feet of snow.

Henry has started lacrosse and loves it! I think he likes the "fight" for the ball. The equipment is quite cool as well!!! Check out his smile....at least you can see that under the huge helmet.

Henry decided to walk home after his practice (just up the street). John was shocked to see him walking home on the sidewalk with all of his equipment.
Emma was chosen to be goalie for her soccer game this weekend. That's twice in goal for two different sports over two weekends. I must mention here that she LOVES, LOVES, LOVES lacrosse. She is so aggressive and comes off the field with a smile from ear to ear.

A big shout out to my nephew Tristan- HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY!!!!!

You Know Celia?

A few days ago Emma and I had this brief conversation:

Emma: "Mommy, do you know Celia?"
Me: "Yes, I would hope that I know Celia pretty well."
Emma- "Well, I REALLY miss her."
Me: "Well, I REALLY miss her too." (tears welling up in my eyes)

This is another time that I wished that we lived closer to one another. I want Emma and Henry to be able to spend more time with our extended family to really get to know them. Luckily- we will have a lot of visitors this summer!!

Bike, Bird and Lego Guys....

Henry got a new bike this weekend. He is just a little bit excited!! He went on two 3 mile bike rides with John on Sunday around our neighborhood. He says that his favorite features are the gears and the mini- computer (which tells him how fast he is going, how far he is going and a couple of other things). John has the same mini-computer on his bike- boys and there gadgets.

(the bird in this picture is real)

"Lego Guys" can be found all over our house but this was a new spot for them. Were they assisting Henry when he was practicing?

Friendship

This past Saturday night Emma had 3 friends over for a "girl's night." I felt as though she needed time outside of school to spend time with the girls she enjoys. She planned the menu and the activities for the evening. Cupcakes were the first order of business (she loves the show DC Cupcakes)!

I had the opportunity to read a great post on one of my favorite blogs- Clover Lane. She blogged about how girls are growing up too fast in our society today- check it out here. I really wanted the girls to just have an old fashioned hang out time. It was so fun hearing them giggling , talking about their interests and seeing them just being themselves around one another.

Versatility

Spring has sprung! On Sunday, Emma played two games. Her first was soccer and I must say that her team this year is looking so much better than last. It should be a fun season.

We rushed to her next game- lacrosse. (Luckily- she has the same coaches for both teams) As soon as she got on the field her coach asked her to be goalie. Here's the back story. She has had 2 one hour practices to learn lacrosse and no time has been spent on the position of goalie. She immediately said that she would do it!! She suited up and headed out to the field. She played the position really well considering it was her first go at it!! GREAT JOB EMMA!

(ready to go)

(waiting to have a ball whipped at her)

(happy it's over- a big thank you to the pit crew!)

Love Note...Henry Style

Boy, do I love finding these notes on Henry's bed. They make my day!

These boot were made for cooking and catch up.....

No this is not an April Fool's joke.....this is what we woke up to this morning. A certain groundhog needs to be fired (I won't name names but you know who you are)!

Seriously- let this winter come to an END!

My New Favorite nail polish- Essie- Chinchilly. I found it at Target and it lasts and lasts and the color is just amazing!!!

Last Saturday night we all cooked as a family. Emma chose a recipe from my new Power Foods cookbook. Her choice- a Niscoise Salad. It was amazing. So much fun to cook together even though it got a little crazy at times.

Great quote from last week. Emma needes to put on a brave face at school and this quote was perfect! Why are girls so mean to other girls.....

Henry did his cooking in these very fashionable boots. The music was blasting and he was getting down to business.

Off to Emma's book club!
