First Day of School

The first day of school finally arrived after much anticipation and a first day cancelation due to hurricane Irene.  Both Emma and Henry are happy with their new teachers..Henry a little less happy but I am sure it will all work itself out over the next few weeks.  Henry doesn't like change and teachers  are considered a huge change in his world.

Pasta Making Fun

John has been wanting a pasta maker for the longest time and last week his wish came true! We had so much fun making our first batch of pasta.

As I went through the pictures of Emma and Henry today, I found so many darling pictures of the two of them together. Neither one of them knows the life without the other. They are truly best friends. Sure, they fight and argue but at the end of the day if they didn't have each other in their lives they would be missing a piece of themselves. As they continue to grow older, I hope their relationship continues to blossom.

When I asked Henry who he thought the prettiest girl was he said "Emma." Yesterday, when Emma and I were out shopping she told me that she missed Henry. Knowing, how much each of them care for the other makes me so happy.

Valentines and a old fashioned arts and crafts project...

Emma was on the fence about making Valentines this year...she is growing up way to quickly. In the end, she made the right decision and made Valentines for everyone in her class (boys included).

Emma wanted to decorate in binder in a unique way so she look up on YouTube to get ideas and this idea was shown. It brought me back to when I was her age and did the exact same thing. Emma and Henry worked on this project for about 2 hours and the end result was AMAZING! Both of their binders are true representations on themselves. So funny to see what words they choose to describe themselves.

A lesson taught by the kids...

A few days ago, I went upstairs and found these two notes laying on the ground. Emma and Henry had spent the morning needling each other until I lost my patience and told them to be kind to one another. We are a family and we need to build each other up not tear each other apart. I love the fact that Henry took the initiative and wrote a letter of apology to Emma and then she reciprocated with her own apology.

I look at these two kids and think that this is something that I should be able to apply to my own life. If I lose my temper to quickly, say something that isn't kind or just don't think before I speak I should be quick to apologize as well.

Thank you Emma and Henry for teaching me something!!!

Soccer Tournament- Two Winning Teams

Emma and Henry participated in a soccer tournament over Columbus Day weekend. The new turf field in our town was christened with this event. They both played a few games with their friends and managed to win all of their games. So much fun!

The first day of school....

The first day of school has arrived.....there are so many emotions flooding our house- excitement, anxiety, sadness, and joy. A new year brings new beginnings and new friends. I am sure that Emma and Henry will love being in 4th and second grade. I am so excited for them to come home and to tell me about their days. I am sure that there will be many stories. It is so hot today - high of 96 so I am sure that they will just want to hop in the pool.

I had to post so many pictures because I look at these shots am my heart just bubbles over with love!!!

Henry left this note on his bed for me this morning with strict instructions not to read it until after he had left for school. Good thing because it instantly brought me to tears.

Have I mentioned that I love these kids???? They are the best!

Kimball Farm...one more time!

We had to make one more visit to Kimball Farm before the summer came to an end. John was able to go with us this time and he had as much fun as the kids. We purchased a pass that allowed you to pick 5 different activities so they decided on- miniature golf, bumper boats, the arcade, ice cream and the driving range. Hours of fun!!!

We also had lunch- they have the BEST friend clams!!!!

We had a great day being together with lots of laughs. The pictures speak for themselves.
